Seed Nation FAQ's

Q; How long will it take me to grow this Tree/ Flower/ Cactus?
A: That depends entirely on how you manage its environment. The closer to its natural environment you can create the quicker and healthier it will grow. Every plant has slightly different requirements and all of our seeds come with detailed sowing instructions.

Q; How long will it take for these seeds to germinate?
A: Every plant is different. Some seeds can take years to germinate, waiting for just the right conditions and some start the instant you open the packet. All of our seeds come with detailed sowing instructions for optimum germination times.

Q; Is there anything I can do to speed up the germination process of these seeds?
A: Firstly, consider their natural environment. If a seed would usually germinate in the spring you can place it in your refrigerator for a short while to simulate winter. If a seed would need a bush fire to germinate you can place it on a warm windowsill or in the airing cupboard for a while, or if a seed would have to endure a flood or would drift at sea then allow it to soak in a glass of fresh or salty water for a while to simulate this also. Remember you are simulating nature, not creating it, and some plants are not easily fooled!

Q; How many of this seed are there in a packet?
A: All of our seeds show how many are to a packet in their listing.

Q; Do you have any Cannabis seeds for sale?
A: No we don't. There are plenty of websites that do tho, try a google search.

Q; What is the best time of year to plant these seeds?
A: All of our seeds come with detailed sowing instructions including when to sow for optimum germination. As we send our seeds all over the world and seasons change greatly depending on location we can suggest that most plants prefer to germinate in the spring. (Whatever month that happens to be for you)

Q; Are the seeds you sell guaranteed to be disease free?
A: Yes, we guarantee all of our seeds to be disease free at time of sending. They all come from prize specimen, organically grown, GM FREE parent plants, however there are many many plant diseases and pests out there and it's your responsibility to ensure your seeds are safe after they arrive with you.

Q; Where do you get the seeds from?
A: From all over the world. Matt is travelling the world right now, collecting seeds from wherever they happen to be. He sends them home to Debbie who in turn sends them to you.

Q; Can I grow these seeds in my part of the world? e.g. Can I grow pawpaws in Iceland? Can I grow tree ferns in Texas? Can I grow cacti in Russia?
A: The easy answer to this is yes. You may need to grow them indoors, you may need to grow them in a greenhouse/ glasshouse or you may need to shade them but you can grow just about any kind of plant anywhere in the world so long as you create a viable environment for it. Kew Gardens in London apparently has 1 in 8 of every kind of plant on the planet growing there... and we all know how terrible English weather is!

Q; I don't have much gardening experience... are these plants 'easy' to grow?
A: Essentially all plants are easy to grow, they do it by themselves! All you have to do is set them up right. If you are determined to grow a particular type of plant there is nothing to stop you other than your own certitude. Think about it... if somebody else can do it then you can too, it really is as simple as that, regardless of prior experience.

Q; How long will it take for this plant/ tree to bear fruit?
A: Every plant / tree is different and bears fruit at different stages of its cycle. Generally the closer you keep its environment to optimum conditions the sooner it will fruit and the healthier that fruit will be. This also affects how much fruit your plant / tree will yield.

Q; The plant / tree / cactus or whatever in the photo looks more like a different type of plant or whatever... which is it?
A: As there are so many different sub-species of each variety we have named them as best we can. If you believe it to be different to its listing it possibly is. The seeds we send you come from the actual plants or whatever in the photos, so you can see the parent plant and decide for yourself what it is and if you want it.

Q; The seeds that you sent me vary greatly in size, how will this affect their growth?
A: In our experience it makes no odds. As the seeds vary in size the plants from them do not. It is perfectly reasonable to expect large and small seeds to grow into prize specimens.

Q; How can you guarantee the quality of your seeds?
A: They all come from healthy, GM FREE, prize specimen parent plants, all from their native and naturally established locations. Before they get to you, the seeds have been grown, harvested, cleaned, dried or prepared, packaged and sent & have been checked for quality at every stage by people who care about what they're doing. The odds of a bad seed getting into one of our packs is very very slim.

Please remember that all seeds are living things (even if dormant) and need to be treated with care and respect. i.e.: Don't do anything that may harm them! If you are at all in doubt then don't do it, nature has designed those seeds that way for a purpose, to give that plant/ tree the best chance of survival in its natural environment. So your job shouldn't be too difficult really!! : )

Thank you and good luck with your seeds...
